P90X!
I recently started the P90X training program. I have been wanting to get into the best shape of my life for the 2010 paintball season. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about P90X from members of my paintball team. So I bought the DVDs and the equipment needed to commit to the training.
As stated on the beachbody.com site:
“P90X® is a revolutionary system of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping workouts, designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days. You’ll also receive a comprehensive 3-phase nutrition plan, specially designed supplement options, a detailed fitness guide, a calendar to track your progress, online peer support, and much more. Your personal trainer, Tony Horton, will keep you engaged every step of the way, and you won’t believe your results!”
One of the main selling points of P90X is the concept of muscle confusion. The workouts are intense work each body part daily. After the first month, you are introduced to a new set of exercises so your body doesn’t plateau. This is one of the reasons that many other exercises fail. Furthermore, the program stresses a dietary program. This is the hardest part, really. LOL You may also need to invest in a pull up bar, barbells, and a good workout mat so you don’t destroy your floor. I would recommend hitting up second-hand stores for used equipment. I found barbells for a fraction of the cost of new ones.
So far I am in the middle of my second week. This program is tough. I would say it’s very difficult for beginners or people who are not in good shape. The AB Ripper X DVD is the hardest for me so far. You do about 350 situps of different varieties. Luckily, you can scale down the intensity of the exercises and work your way up. Each DVD consists of one hour of non-stop workouts. After two weeks, I am already noticing quite a difference! It’s crazy. The first week I was completely exhausted. This week I have been feeling much better and I am not as tired. My body is starting to get used to it, and I am stepping it up with each session. The trainer in the video, Tony Horton, is very motivational and likeable. This really helps. It’s like he’s there in your living room. So we’ll see how it goes. I will update this thread as time goes on.
Anyway, I have comitted to finishing the 90 day program. Sometimes I don’t want to do it, because I hate it. But I also love it! … if you know what I mean. So that helps me to turn the DVD player on. I am always very happy after I finish a workout session, and feel like I worked my ass of. I have been told that many people give up within one week. This alone gives me the determination to complete it. Check out beachbody.com for more details.

Grinder,
Hi, my name is Nathan McCabe and I am an Independent Beachbody Coach. I was cruising through some blogs and came across yours. I am really glad to read that you have been experiencing a level of success with the P90X. Before completing a round myself, I was a non-believer in any home workout system. The P90X has me hooked and I have since moved onto the Insanity workout system. The Insanity workout is all cardio based and the workouts are really intense.
Being a Beachbody Coach has opened up new doors for me. It has allowed me to access support groups for my workout, get a 25% discount on all Beachbody products, and also make money at home. If you have a couple of minutes I would like to encourage you to watch a video from Beachbody’s founder and CEO, Carl Daikeler. If you don’t have time right now, you should at least sign-up for a free Beachbody account. Take some time, play around in the Beachbody site, and get back with me about what you think about the coaching option. Either way I would like to hear from you.
I look forward to hearing from you and good luck with your P90X experience. There is nothing else like it.
